Priorities

Affordable Communities

Families who work in Whatcom County should be able to afford to live here. Too many are getting priced out of the housing market, and that hurts our economy and our neighborhoods. I will support zoning updates that allow more housing choices, like duplexes, townhomes, ADUs, and cottages, while keeping growth focused inside cities and protecting farmland and forests. Affordable communities also depend on opportunity. That’s why I’ll work with partners to expand career training in trades, health care, clean energy, and agriculture, and support small businesses and farmers. When people have a safe home, steady work, and the infrastructure they need, they can thrive.
Let’s make it possible for families to live and put down roots right here in Whatcom County.

Safe Communities

Safety isn’t just about responding to emergencies, it’s about preventing them. I will support our first responders, crisis response teams, and law enforcement, while also investing in prevention: youth programs, mental health care, and community partnerships that reduce risks before crises happen. Stable housing, affordable childcare, and access to health care are proven social drivers of safety, and I will work to strengthen those supports. By focusing on prevention and accountability, we can build trust and create safer communities across the county.
When people feel supported and connected, our whole community is safer.

Healthy Communities

Health is shaped by more than a doctor’s visit, it depends on whether families have safe housing, clean water, affordable childcare, good schools, and access to reliable services. County government plays a key role in all of these. I will work to expand mental health and addiction support, strengthen public health programs, and protect the Nooksack River and farmland that sustain us. Investments in parks, trails, and transportation will help keep communities active and connected. As a councilmember, I’ll rely on evidence-based decisions and community input to ensure every resident has the foundation for a healthy life.
Everyone deserves the building blocks of health, no matter where they live in Whatcom County.
